Report someone who is selling psychoactive substances
To report someone who you believe to be selling these substances, please contact Nottinghamshire Police by calling the 101 non-emergency number. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
What are psychoactive substances?
These substances can come in the form of powders, pills and herbal smoking material that mimic the effects of illegal drugs such as cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis.
A change in the law from 26 May 2016
These substances were previously known as legal highs as they were not covered by the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. When the Psychoactive Substances Act comes into effect on 26 May 2016, it will be illegal to:
- Supply, sell or offer psychoactive substances for sale, which includes giving them away to friends
- Possess psychoactive substances with intent to supply them to others
- Exporting or importing psychoactive substances from abroad, which includes purchasing these substances online from overseas
What are the risks to your health?
As with any illegal drug, you never know what else these substances may contain and they can be incredibly harmful to your health. Many of these substances are not safe and can cause serious adverse reactions, including death.
